Ray was a student at St. Joseph’s College when he was introduced to the Portland Police Department as an intern. After his graduation from St. Joe’s with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, he joined the Portland Police Department on August 14, 2005. Ray grew up in Connecticut and moved to Maine as his choice for college. He currently works in patrol on the Portland peninsula, and is known as a hard-charging & dedicated officer. In his short time here, he has made a dramatic impact. Some of the facts about Ray and his career at the Portland Police Department are:

He is a field training officer, as well as a certified instructor for defensive tactics and taser.

He is a member of the Special Reaction Team.

His interest in sports is a natural fit with the Youth Services position - he completed a triathalon last year, did the Peaks to Portland swim this summer and is passionate about exercise and nutrition.

Ray has an unsurpassed dedication to children of the Portland area - he volunteers his time in area schools and at the Barbara Bush wing of Maine Medical Center.

He started the SHOP WITH COPS program, which pairs children with officers to shop for their family during the holiday season.
