Officer Napijalo started with the Portland Police Department in August of 2004. Prior to becoming a member of the department, Officer Napijalo worked as a corrections officer at the Cumberland County Jail from 2002 to 2004. Some of the facts about Andjelko and his career at the Portland Police Department are:
He was born in Karlovac, Croatia and was forced to flee his hometown in 1994 because of the war in Yugoslavia, and resettled in Prishtina, Serbia.
He received an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Andover College in 2006.
Officer Napijalo is routinely placed amongst the top five officers in the department for arrests and traffic citations since he has been working Directed Patrol. In October 2008, he set up a team warrant sweep called Operation Two-Headed Eagle, which resulted in seventeen arrests in one night.
He is one of the Bomb Squad newest members.
He completed a six-year Mechanical Engineering degree at a Serbian University before immigrating to the United States of America in 1999.
Andjelko’s proactive stance against traffic infractions will help him in Sector ,6 where the Department frequently get complaints about speeders and other traffic complaints.
Officer Napijalo became an American citizen in order to become a police officer - his passion for the work is evident when you meet him.
